The possibilities offered by information technology are changing the way we live. Homes and apartments are becoming "intelligent". Possibilities are extremely diverse: for example, the blinds can be opened or the light switched on when you are not at home. Or the heat can be turned up on the way home from work, so that you are welcomed by cosy warmth upon arrival at home. Likewise, the heat automatically turns off as soon as everybody has left the house.

The oven display as the central control point for all networked household devices enables, for example, the reading of the remaining cycle time of the washing machine in the utility room or the fume extractor hood that automatically adapts to the actual cooking activity.

These are just a few examples of the kind of services a house is capable of providing when outfitted with the industry’s latest innovations. The Smart Homes special event within LivingInteriors 2016 showed just what is possible these days.
